Four members of a Sikh family abducted in America found dead, eight-month-old girl also dies
Kidnapped California family, including 8-month-old, found dead, sheriff says

Merced County Sheriff Vern Warnke confirmed the discovery during a news conference Wednesday night, adding: “Our worst fears have been confirmed.”

WASHINGTON: Four members of a kidnapped Sikh family in California, USA, were found dead in a garden. State Sheriff gave this information. Sheriff Vern Warneke said on Wednesday that the bodies were found in a garden in Merced County. "What we feared the most, happened," he told reporters. The
sheriff made the announcement Monday, after authorities released video
of a man abducting an eight-month-old girl and three other family
members from Merced in the San Joaquin Valley, southeast of San
Francisco.
The
family members were identified as eight-month-old Aruhi Dheri, her
mother Jasleen Kaur (27), father Jasdeep Singh (36) and Jasdeep's
brother Amandeep Singh (39). Authorities
had earlier said that the family was abducted by a robber and that he
had even tried to kill himself a day after the abduction. The kidnapper made no ransom demands, but the sheriff said he believed the kidnapping was done for money.
Police had released photos of the
kidnapper After the kidnapping, the sheriff police released two pictures of a man they believed to be the kidnapper. He identified the suspect, saying that he had a shaved head and was wearing a hoodie (cap attached to a T-shirt). Authorities
said on Monday evening that an eight-month-old girl and her parents
were abducted by a man believed to be armed and dangerous. A relative of the family has also been kidnapped.
The family was from Hoshiarpur.
According
to reports, the victim's family was a resident of Harsi village of
Tanda in Hoshiarpur, Punjab and had their own transport business in
America. The family was abducted on Monday and their car was found burnt in the middle of the road. A suspect was taken into custody after the kidnapping who also attempted suicide. The suspect had used the family's ATM card. It is being said that the family was kidnapped at gun point. Their eight-year-old daughter was also with the family at the time of the abduction.
"Hopefully we can get some answers," he said.
Salgado
was previously convicted of robbery in 2015, Warnke said. The Merced
County Sheriff's Office is working with the California Department of
Justice and the FBI to investigate the incident.
